We believe that America's military strength begins at home. That's why housing military families is our number one priority. We are proud to offer active duty service members a great place to live, plus a few extra perks along the way.

Application Process

As an active-duty service member, you can apply as soon as you receive Official Orders of assignment to Fort Irwin. When you're ready:

  • Review the Housing Qualifications and compile the necessary documentation.

  • Download and complete the Military Application Form below.

  • Submit here to email the documents required by the Family Housing Qualifications and completed Military Application Form to our Community Manager.

We will then process your information and reach out to you within 24 business hours. Once you detach from your current station, send us your Absence Request Authorization and Approval Form. On your Absence Begin Date, we will send you a list of up to 2 available homes with a move-in date as close as possible to your desired move-in date. You will be automatically assigned to the first available home but have the option to change to the other, pending availability. If you decline the 1st list of homes offered, you will not be issued another list of homes for 30 days.

Waitlist Procedures

If no homes are available, service members will be placed on a waitlist. The Villages at Fort Irwin has adopted the Army Housing Office Waiting List Procedures Policy initiated by General Lynch that states the following:

  1. Active duty service members with current orders are eligible to apply for on‐post housing. They are allowed to submit applications in advance and may be placed on the wait list prior to reporting to their new duty station, as verified by their orders.

  2. Applicants will be placed on the waitlist based on their rank and number of family members. Additionally, they will be placed on the waitlist with an effective date equal to the date that the service member departed the last duty station.

  3. If an applicant applies after 30 days of arrival, they will be placed on the waitlist with an effective date equal to the date of application. Otherwise, the effective date that all supporting documentation is received.

Please note that all applicants are required to submit the following documentation:

  • Completed Housing Application

  • Copy of Current Orders

  • DEERS Enrollment Form DD1172 (or DEERS printed from AKO account for each dependent)

  • Copy of Driver’s License

  • Current LES showing BAH

  • Power of Attorney (if applicable)

  • Absence Request - Authorization and Approval Data Form

  • Proof of Renter’s Insurance (due at Lease Signing)

  • Pet Addendum & Deposit(s) (due prior to moving in animals)

* Failure to provide copies of the above-listed documents will result in an administrative hold position on the waitlist and will not be offered a home until all documents are received.

**Key and Essential Personnel are the only individuals that take priority. The Key and Essential list is maintained by the Garrison Commander.
